Who this covers
This policy is about SmartBooster, an iPhone app published by GOLARIX LLC doo. “We” and “us” means us, the developer; “you” means the person using the app. Questions go to apps@golarix.info.
Below you’ll find what personal information the app picks up, how we look after it and put it to use, and what say you have over it. It covers the app and the services around it. It doesn’t cover businesses outside our ownership or people who don’t work for us. By opening and using the app, you’re telling us you’ve read this and you’re fine with it.
What the app records on its own
While the app is in use, our servers log details your phone sends along by itself, for example:
- its IP address and where it is;
- the name and model of the phone, plus which operating system and version it runs;
- your language;
- what you look up inside the app;
- when you opened it, on which days, and other usage numbers.
We use these details for two jobs only: catching possible misuse and building statistics on how the app gets used. Those statistics aren’t pieced together in a way that singles anyone out.
We may also gather information for market research, for instance the apps and sites you visit, how popular a particular app or site is, how long people stay in them and how often an app gets opened.
When something breaks, say your internet connection drops, the app reports the crash and the error details to us.
When you download the app, the App Store may hand us some details, such as what device you have, so you get the right version.
Inside the app, we and the companies that help us may use cookies, web beacons, server logs and similar tools. Cookies are tiny bits of text handed to a browser. Ours are first-party cookies; third-party ones are set by someone else through the app. They let us follow trends, like how often screens are viewed and how people move around, so we can improve the parts you find useful.
What you tell us
You can use the app without saying who you are. A few features may ask for things like your name or email address. You’re free to skip them, though those features may not work without that info. Anything you type when making an account, posting something or filling out a form in the app isn’t received or kept by us. The one thing the app does need is your device ID, which powers ads and analytics.
Most of what we have comes straight from you through the app, but we may also get personal information from elsewhere, such as public databases and partners we run joint marketing with. Not sure what’s required? Just ask us.
What we use it for
We need some personal information to offer you the app or to meet a legal duty, and without it we might not be able to give you what you asked for. We may use what we collect to:
- set up and look after user accounts;
- send you service messages;
- answer questions and help with support;
- ask what you think of the app;
- make the app nicer to use;
- run prize draws and contests;
- uphold our terms and policies;
- guard against abuse and bad actors;
- handle legal requests and prevent harm;
- keep the app up and running.
Our legal grounds
Whether we can process your information depends on how you use the app, where you live, and on at least one of these grounds:
- you gave consent for a particular purpose or several (we don’t lean on this ground where California’s consumer privacy act or European privacy law covers the processing);
- it’s needed to carry out an agreement with you, or the steps before one;
- a law we have to follow requires it;
- it’s part of a public-interest task or of official authority we hold;
- it serves legitimate interests of ours or of a third party.
Some laws let us process information until you object by opting out, without consent or another ground. Ask us anytime and we’ll explain which ground applies, and whether giving us the information is something a law or a contract requires.
Seeing, fixing and erasing your data
You can see the personal data we hold about you, correct or update it, or have it erased. For that, or to opt out of data collection, email apps@golarix.info. We may ask for a few details to confirm it’s you and to find your data, and tracking it down and wiping it can take a reasonable amount of time. Privacy laws where you live may give you extra or different rights as well.
Some personal information you can delete yourself, and what’s deletable may change as the app changes. Even after you delete something, we may keep an untouched copy for as long as we need it to keep commitments we have with affiliated companies and partners, and for the reasons set out in this policy. To wipe your information or close your account for good, write to apps@golarix.info.
Who we share it with
To provide a service you’ve asked for or finish a transaction, we may, with your consent, pass your information to trusted partners, affiliates and subsidiaries that help us run the app. Outside companies we have no ties to don’t get personal information from us. The partners who do may use it only to work for us or to obey the law, receive only what their task needs, follow privacy rules in line with ours, and can’t use it to market their own products or for anything else of their own.
We’ll also hand over personal information when the law requires or allows it, for example under a subpoena or a similar order, or when we honestly believe it’s needed to protect our rights, keep you or others safe, look into fraud or answer a government request.
How long we keep it
We hold personal information for as long as we need it to meet legal duties, resolve disagreements and make our agreements stick, unless the law requires or allows longer. After you update or delete your information, we may still use aggregated figures built from it, though never in a way that identifies you. Once the retention period is over, the information is deleted, and from then on the rights to see, erase, correct or move it can no longer be used.
Data across borders
Depending on where you are, your information may be moved to and kept in another country. You’re entitled to know the legal basis for sending it beyond the European Union, or to an international body such as the UN, and what we do to keep it safe. Write to apps@golarix.info and we’ll tell you.
Your rights
You can:
- take back consent you gave earlier;
- object to processing that rests on something other than consent;
- find out whether we process your information, learn how, and get a copy;
- check that it’s accurate and have it updated or fixed;
- in some cases, limit processing, so that we only store it;
- in some cases, have it erased;
- get it in a structured, common format a machine can read and, where that’s technically possible, have it passed straight to another controller. This applies when the processing is automated and rests on your consent, an agreement between us, or the run-up to one.
If we process your information for the public interest, under official authority, or for our legitimate interests, you can object by telling us what about your situation justifies it.
If you live in the EEA
People in the European Economic Area have data protection rights under the GDPR, and we’ll take reasonable steps so you can fix, amend, erase or restrict how your personal information is used. You can ask to see what we hold, have it fixed or completed, have it erased, object to or restrict how we handle it (we’d keep it but stop using it), get a copy in a format a machine can read, and pull back consent we relied on.
You can also take a complaint to the data protection regulator. The one where you live in the EEA can tell you more.
If you live in California
If you’re a California resident and gave us personal information for something you use personally or at home, you can ask us once every calendar year which personal information, if any, we passed to other businesses for their marketing. The answer covers the previous calendar year: the types of information involved, who those businesses are and where they’re based. Just email us to ask.
How to make a request
Send any request to apps@golarix.info. Before acting on it, we need to confirm you’re the person in question or someone allowed to act for them, and we need enough detail to understand what you’re asking for. Until we’ve confirmed who you are and that the information is really yours, we can’t respond or share any personal information.
Kids
The app isn’t meant for anyone under 16, and we never knowingly gather personal information from kids that age. If you’re under 16, please don’t share personal information through the app. Parents and guardians: please keep an eye on how your kids use the internet, and remind them not to share personal details in the app without your OK. Think a child under 16 has sent us personal information? Let us know. Where you live, you also need to be at least 16 to agree to us processing your data, though some countries let a parent or guardian agree for you.
Email newsletters
We may offer newsletters you can sign up for if you like. We keep your email address private and pass it on only as this policy allows or to a provider that sends the emails for us, and we store what’s sent by email in line with the law. As the CAN-SPAM Act requires, every email from us says who sent it and how to reach the sender. You can unsubscribe through the link in any email or by writing to us, but you’ll still get essential transactional messages.
Links to other places
Some links in the app lead to resources that aren’t ours and that we don’t run, and how they handle privacy isn’t up to us. Please read the privacy statement of any resource that collects personal information.
Keeping it safe
We store what you give us on servers kept in a secure setting, shielded from people who shouldn’t see, use or share it, and we use sensible technical, physical and administrative measures to protect personal information we hold. Still, nothing sent over the internet or a wireless network is guaranteed safe. By using the app, you accept that the internet has security and privacy limits we can’t control, and that data passing between you and the app could be seen or altered by someone else on the way, despite our best efforts.
If there’s a breach
If we find out the app’s security has been broken, or that users’ personal information reached unrelated parties through an attack, fraud or other outside activity, we may take reasonable steps such as investigating, reporting, and alerting and working with law enforcement. If a breach could reasonably lead to harm for you, or the law requires notice, we’ll do what we reasonably can to tell the people affected, and a notice will go up in the app.
When this policy changes
We may change this policy from time to time. When a change affects how we treat personal information in a material way, we’ll put up a notice inside the app and may also reach you in other ways, such as through contact details you’ve given us. A new version applies as soon as it’s posted unless it says otherwise, and using the app after that date means you accept it. Without your consent, we won’t start handling your personal information in a way that’s materially different from what we said when we collected it.
Agreeing to this policy
By using the app, you confirm that you’ve gone through this policy and accept it. If you don’t, please don’t use the app.
